Delete your account

From the app

The option is in the same place on every platform:

1. Open Akono and go to Profile.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
3. Confirm. The account and its data are removed immediately.

If you have a subscription

It depends on where you bought it, and the difference matters:

• Bought on akono.ai (card payment): we cancel it for you as part of the deletion. If that cancellation fails, we stop and do not delete the account, so you are never left paying for something you cannot log into.
• Bought in the iOS or Android app: Apple and Google own that subscription and we cannot cancel it on your behalf. Cancel it yourself first, in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or in the Play Store → Payments and subscriptions on Android. Deleting your Akono account does not stop a store subscription from renewing.

What is deleted

Everything below is removed permanently and cannot be recovered by you or by us:

• Your account and sign-in details
• Every document you uploaded, and the copies we made to search them
• Your courses, study plans, sessions and exams
• Your progress, notes and conversations with the tutor
• Your preferences and notification settings

If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke Akono's access to your Apple ID at the same time, so it disappears from your Apple account settings too.

What we keep, and why

• Payment and invoice records — kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years. We are not permitted to delete these on request.
• Anonymised operating records — for example how much processing a request used. These are stripped of any link to you at the moment your account is deleted, and cannot be traced back.
